What is URL forwarding?

URL forwarding sends visitors from one domain or subdomain to another destination on the web.

RedirectSend a branded address to another page or site.
HTTPSSupport secure forwarding when certificates are in place.
CloakingOptionally keep the original address visible in the browser bar.

When URL forwarding is useful

  • Point a branded domain at an existing hosted page
  • Send campaign domains to landing pages
  • Forward subdomains to different destinations
  • Work around hosting or port constraints

How it works

  1. 1. Visitor enters a domainThe branded address is requested.
  2. 2. Forwarding matchesThe forwarding service identifies the configured destination.
  3. 3. Visitor arrivesThe browser lands on the target page or site.

Forwarding vs DNS

DNS points names to infrastructure. URL forwarding works at the web layer and sends visitors to another URL after the request arrives.
